In the winter of 2005, I required the services of an antiques appraiser to value all the items in my mother’s home in a somewhat remote area of the Laurentains, north of Montreal, Quebec. I was referred to and provided the very fortunate opportunity to meet with and use the services of Janet Carlile, Antiques Appraiser. 

My experience turned out to be one beyond my expectations. Janet Carlile had to travel over 3 hours to meet with me and be directed to the residence. Not only was she prompt and professional, but extremely well organized with reference material ready. A detailed appraisal was conducted over an 8-hour period of every article in the residence. Photographs were taken of each item along with recorded detail of each item for an accurate description to build a file for evaluation and insurance purposes. This was all provided to me within weeks of the visit.

As an end result I have a full and complete record of every item in the residence and one that appears to be a fair assessment of current value on each item. I don’t know how to express how pleased I was with the entire process and end result.

I just wanted to thank you again for last Saturday's spectacular fundraiser.

The students were thrilled and we had such great feedback from the school and the community. Everyone would love to see it happen again next year.

We were fortunate to have Janet run several workshops for the OHS. Her wealth of knowledge and hands-on approach to learning (she brought more than 100 artifacts to the glass workshop alone) resulted in a growing following for her fun and informative workshops (on 18th and 19th century furniture and decorative arts). 

Feedback from participants was extremely positive. Everyone enjoyed her engaging style and the relaxed atmosphere. Janet is extremely generous in sharing her knowledge of art and antiques. It would recommend her to any group interested in learning more about antiques.
